Tele Dialogues

The Tele dialogue are a 4 day panel discussion where industry experts, stakeholders (government, private and entrepreneurs) will be sharing their experience, knowledge, methodologies and their sense direction to where the African television industry is headed. The objective of this conference is to investigate the current status of Africa television industry in Africa and to address the challenges and opportunities faced by the Television industry in the province of KZN and the rest of Africa.

Channel Stations

The Channel Station is a new platform created to provide content producers direct access to the international, national and local television channels. Each channel station will showcase their content, market their brand and mandate and also create a platform to engage with contents producers (meeting room). Each Channel station is requested to host one evening networking session, where all the Africa Television Market delegates can attend and get to know more about that specific channel. The objective of the channel stations is to provide the producers with direct access to the channel commission editors and to provide the channel commissioning editors opportunity to source content for their platform, especially since the digital migration is creating more channel, competition is on the rise for Television

Actor Factor

Actor factor is a new program, which will be executed in the by a women owned actors agency called Star Quality. The project aims to unearth talents and voices and to provide a much needed venue to articulate, issues effecting performers as well as providing a platform on learning about branding, and social media. This program will provide the practitioners with an opportunity to get an honest, realistic & specifc “Industry” assessment of being in front of the camera.

Taste of TV

In the past years there has been an increase of cooking shows on the Television Medium. We have seen the likes of Jamie Olive, Nigella, Shiba and Lentswe showing off their skills in the kitchen. Taste for TV is a new component hosted by our very own South Africa Mover and shaker Lentswe Bhengu Executive Producer, Host and Head Chef of BET’s Africa on a Plate, Presenter: Kasi Kitchen (Soweto TV),Hosted Extreme Nutrition Theatre” at the Good Food and Wine Show, Ambassador: Chefs Who Share Young Chef Award and Presenter: The Great South African Bake-Off.

Taste for TV aims to develop young chefs whom would like to execute their professional in the television medium. This component aims to showcase the food element of lifestyle television in Africa, explore the rich tapestries of food in Africa and celebrate the talent of African Foodies in lifestyle television. In Addition, this component aims to explore opportunities for food in lifestyle television in Africa. A call-out will be made through KZN media for aspiring chefs who wish to be presenters on food shows. They will be required to submit a 5 minute video clip making their favourite African meal with the sponsor’s products. A shortlist will be announced and the aspiring food presenters invited to attend the three-day Taste of TV events. On the third day, the top 4 will battle it out in a cook-off. The main prize for the overall winner will be an opportunity to shadow Chef Lentswe on his Africa on a Plate show on BET. Day 1 and Day 2 will be comprised of panel discussions with four celebrity food presenters from South Africa, Mozambique, Nigeria and Tanzania; producers and broadcasters of food shows. Cook-Offs will take place between Presenter Chefs after each panel discussion on Day 1 and Day 2. This will be an opportunity for contenders to learn food presenting styles and basics.

Mentorship

The Africa Television Mentorship program is specically designed to mentor emerging content producers across the continent. The program was created to bridge the gap of scriptwriters and content producers. The objective of the program is to provide a one on one mentorship and training to emerging content producers on their existing developing content/television program. The program will only selects 20 applicants across the African continent to participate within the program and from the 20 applicants 1 applicant will be selected by the judges to win a prize which will assist in growing their career and bringing their project to life.
